Here’s a brief look at what’s on in Windermere this November. If you are visiting the Lake District next month, don’t forget to pack some warm clothes. After all, many things to do in Windermere and the surrounding areas are based upon the outdoors. Although, not exclusively of course, as some of the main attractions include the likes of the World of Beatrix Potter and the Lakes Aquarium.

However Autumn in Cumbria is a time the Lakes come alive. In the heart of the season, the leaves have started to fall and the scenery changes colour. There’s a mist in the air and the sun starts to set earlier. As a result, those early evening walks along the water edge give you the chance to admire the stars above.

The weather in Lake Districts in November

Temperatures experience averages of highs at 9 degree centigrade and lows of 3 degrees centigrade. As for the balance between sun and the rain, the United Kingdom is well known for being interchangeable.

What’s on in Windermere this November

One event set to start November off with a bang is the Beech Hill Hotel Guy Fawkes Night Party. Taking place on Saturday 3rd November, expect fireworks over Lake Windermere along with live entertainment. The evening costs £49 per person, complete with a 3-course dinner.

Down the road from our Windermere spa suite mid-month is the popular Kendal Mountain Festival. Running from 15th November to the 18th November, the literature and outdoor event brings together a cross-section of visitors.
The Blackwell Arts and Crafts House in Windermere is worthy of a visit all year round. However, this November you can enjoy a more personal tour of the Simpsons exhibition currently on display. Wednesday 14th November curator Chelsea Eves will take you on a walking tour of the popular wood carvings.

Over the 17th and 18th November, Blackwell holds its Autumnal Craft Fair across the weekend. Showcasing contemporary and traditional crafts, as well as a selection of locals artists. Incidentally, there’s also a small collection by Turner prize winner Grayson Perry on display until the 6th January.
