With life getting back to normal, September 2021 in Windermere is set to produce some incredible memories. Especially given the number of annual festivals and events there are throughout the Lake District this coming month. After all, this time last year with the country in lockdown, even a UK staycation was looking unlikely.

However, as it stands things are on the up and for those of you lucky enough to have booked a spa break in Windermere, you won’t be disappointed.

September 2021 in the Lake District

As the summer starts to come to an end, the Lake District comes alive. Not just in terms of the change of season, but before and beyond. The stunning scenery becomes a wash of colour towards the end of the month, yet proceeded by some of the Lakes biggest events.

2nd and 3rd September Ambleside Days Festival

The legendary Zeffirellis Jazz Café opens its doors the best in contemporary and local music. In comparison to the festival season, it’s a relatively small affair and not one to be missed. Plus you can head back to a nice comfy bed afterwards.

5th September – Windermere Wild Swim

This is your chance to get your feet wet, well and the rest of you, as you embrace the beautiful waters of Lake Windermere. Wild swimming is as popular as ever in the Lake District, but there’s still a skill to doing so. As such, join qualified guides and learn how to take on the challenge.

7th September – Mick Fleetwood and Friends

He’s the man behind both the name and the drumkit of the world-famous, Fleetwood Mac. Previous shows of this evening of music and storytelling have included the likes of Noel Gallagher, Pete Townsend and Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour. While we can’t guarantee who will be accompanying Mick, it’s safe to say it will be a fantastic night out at Fellini’s in Ambleside.

8th and 9th September – Westmorland County Show

It’s a perfect introduction to life in the country for those of you on a mid-week break in the Lake District. The Westmorland County Show is one of the few such shows to still be going ahead this year, as such making it all the more memorable. Not only that, but it’s celebrating a well-rounded and incredible 222nd birthday!

10th September – Keswick Mountain Festival

Up in the nearby mountains of Keswick guests can partake in a wide range of. Live music in the evening is proceeded by guest speakers, films and sporting events such as cross-country running and a gruelling triathlon.

18th September – Epic Lakes Swim

Whether you’re thinking of competing or just watching, the Epic Lakes Swim is quite a sight! Tackling a 500m, 1 mile or 5km course is something that certainly takes some preparation. So what better way than a relaxing hot tub before and after the event?
