September 2018 in Windermere
It may be just outside the tourist season, but there’s still plenty to do during September 2018 in Windermere. Along with the usual attractions, such as the World of Beatrix Potter and River Lake Cruises, here are another 5 events to choose from.
2nd September – Windermere One Way
The challenging 11 mile swim takes place in the vast waters of Lake Windermere. If you’re a keen swimmer and want to book a place, then best you get in training! Those already taking part and in need of somewhere for a last minute dip in the water, the swimming pool at Aphrodite’s Lodge is available! However if you just want to relax before the big day, then grab your towel and jump in your private hot tub.
9th September – Dragon Bay in Windermere
There’s more fun to be had out on Lake Windermere, this time at the annual dragon boat race. Participants row in this regatta to help raise money for a good cause, Paddlers for Life. The charity raises money for those suffering from cancer.
Teams of 16 are then headed up by their captain, challenging others to a race to the finish line. There’s plenty of on-site entertainment too, along with a BBQ and café. You don’t have to be taking part to enjoy the event. If you’re travelling as a couple and staying at one of Aphrodite’s hotels, Lake Windermere is only a short walk away.
18th September – Riddle at Casino Royale
Murder is on the cards as part of Riddle at Casino Royale. For one night only you get the chance to be a detective, where you will uncover the clues and solve the crime. This of course is a night of pure entertainment, a murder mystery night at Lindeth Howe. Alongside the comedy antics, there’s the more serious business of a 3 course meal – a great way to spend an alternative night out in Windermere.
22nd September – Lakeland Trails
Coniston is just a boat ride away from Windermere, where Lakeland Trails take place. You can still have a relaxing start to your day before heading off, maybe read the morning paper while drinking a coffee in your hot tub. Don’t be too late though, for the runners in this event will thrive on your encouragement.
23rd September – Wedding Fayre
If you’re on a romantic break, you may be travelling with your future husband/wife or thinking of dropping the big question. If that’s the case then be sure to take your loved one to the Windermere Wedding Fayre. There will be everything you need to prepare for the big day.
