Easter in the Lake District

When it comes to Easter in the Lake District, the long weekend break is the chance to escape to the country.

Things to do this Easter in the Lake District

As well as the regular attractions and things to do in the Lake District, there are a number of special events during the Easter break.

  • Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, Loweswater
  • Dragon Egg Hunt, Lowther Castle
  • Herdy Hunt at Brockhole, Windermere
  • Muncaster Castle Easter Egg Hunt
  • Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
  • Teddies go Free! Ullswater Streamers
  • Theatre by the Lake, Keswick

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, Loweswater

One of many annual events this Easter in the Lake District is the Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt. Taking place at several locations, including Tarn Hows, the Beatrix Potter Gallery and Derwent Water. See here for more information.

Dragon Egg Hunt, Lowther Castle

The impressive 19th century castle in the heart of the Lake District often runs an equally impressive Easter Egg Hunt. Although details of this year’s event are still to be confirmed, expect to find much more than your average chocolate treat.

Muncaster Castle Easter Egg Hunt

One that is on the calendar without fail every year, is that of the Muncaster Castle Easter Egg Hunt. If you’re visiting friends or family with children, then the Easter Break adds extra fun to your visit. Within the castle grounds are lots of activities, including face paint and child friendly entertainment. As well as the popular Easter Egg hunt itself, which runs on both Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Herdy Hunt at Brockhole, Windermere

Another fun activity for all the family is the Herdy Hunt at Brockhole on Windermere. It provides a slightly different take on the traditional Easter Egg hunt, whereby visitors have to help rescue the escaped Herdy sheep. Although, don’t worry – we’re sure they’re all accounted for really!

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway

Rumour has it that the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway are giving away Cream Eggs to their travellers during the Easter weekend. Either way, taking the local railway is a wonderful experience, traveling through the countryside in style. Taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.

Teddies go Free! Ullswater Streamers

Another outing for those visiting family during a spa break in the Lake District. It’s not technically just the teddies that go free, the youngsters accompanying them do too. Although, that said, whenever you’re visiting the Lakes, Ullswater Streamers should be on your list at least once.

Theatre by the Lake, Keswick

If you’ve booked into a spa hotel in Windermere for a bit of a healthy break, the chances are you don’t want to be surrounded by chocolate. Likewise, Easter can be associated with a time for children, so night in nearby Keswick is one way to get away from it all. Across the Easter weekend, the theatre will be showcasing performances of “Malory Towers” and “One Side Lies the Sea”.

Easter Spa Break in the Lake District

Book a spa break in the Lake District this Easter at the Windermere Tranquil Retreat. Where a selection of spa suites and hot tubs await your arrival.
