Discover National Parks Events in the Lake District

When is Discover National Parks 2019?

It’s already started! The Discover National Parks 2019 events run for 2 weeks from the 6th April through to 21st April.

There are a whole host of events up and down the country, with the UK’s 15 National Parks embracing the great outdoors. The Lake District National Park has even more to celebrate in recent years, as it has become recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017.

While visiting Cumbria, you can enjoy the Discover National Parks taking place in the Lake District. It’s the perfect excuse to get out and about, admiring the beautiful landscapes, taking in the stunning views and being at one with the wildlife.

There are a couple of special events taking place in Windermere and its surrounding areas. On the 15th and 27th April join a walk from Latterbarrow to Wray Castle, including a stroll along the shores of Windemere.

In fact, guided walks feature high on the agenda during the Discover National Parks 2019 Events. 11th April there’s a guided walk from Tilberthwaite to Holme Fell, or the 13th April spend the afternoon discovering the world of William Wordsworth.

If you’re staying at accommodation near Windermere Train Station, then continue your journey on the “Ratty” steam train. It’s an ideal time to take the train from Eskdale Green. After which, the walk covers Muncaster Fell, before returning to your Windermere hot tub.

With the Easter Break coming up, there are a variety of family-friendly events in the area. Easter Egg hunts aimed at children and adults alike, along with more family orientated walks such as discovering the past of Coppermines Valley near Coniston.

If you want to find out more about the above and other events and guided walks in the Lake District, you can check the Lakes official website.

Other National Parks in the United Kingdom

We may be biased about which National Park to visit, however, let’s not forget the other 14. After all, the largest is across the other side of the border, while the newest addition is further south. The Cairngorms in Scotland covers over 2.5 thousand square miles of land. While the South Downs stretch from near Winchester in Hampshire towards Eastbourne in Sussex.

Wherever you decide to visit in the United Kingdom, discover some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. Although don’t just take our word for it, why not discover the UK’s national parks for yourself. Treat yourself and a loved one to a package break in the Lake District.
