Where to Celebrate Christmas in Windermere?

Have you already decided on a last-minute break in the Lake District? Then maybe you just need to book the accommodation. After all, finding the romantic setting to make it even more idyllic can sometimes be challenging.

Yet with the Windermere Tranquil Retreat, let us take care of all the little things for you. If you’re lucky enough to have booked a last-minute getaway, our hot tub spa suites are a present in themselves. However, we also have additional treats available. With food and drink hampers ready for collection from reception.

Alternatively, how about arranging champagne and chocolates delivered straight to your hotel room? Maybe, even have rose petals sprinkled over the bedsheets or a bunch of flowers placed at the end of the bed? Although fear not, we’re ready to clean up before the next guests arrive.

Things to do in the Lake District in December

While some events have been scaled back this year, there are still plenty of festive activities to look out for. Including the Keswick Victorian Fayre, Christmas at Brockhole or this weekend you could always visit nearby Rydal Mount.

Famous as the former home of William Wordsworth, Rydal Mount hosts its annual Christmas Fair this weekend (11th and 12th December).

In fact, this coming Saturday and Sunday is the ideal time to celebrate Christmas in Windermere. As the Taste Cumbria food festival is also taking place in Cockermouth. There’s a whole host of food stalls, cooking demonstrations and fun activities on offer.

Elsewhere, throughout the month there will be a host of festive markets. As well as decorations to, quite literally, light up the streets. Then there are special events to look out for at the World of Beatrix Potter or the likes of Muncaster Castle.

If you’re looking for an excuse to dress up, there are often a number of gala balls or at least special menus at local restaurants. In these instances, we especially recommend searching other local listings for inspiration. Failing that, book a last-minute winter break and ask at our reception for any personal recommendations.

Although when it comes to spreading a little bit of magic, keep an eye out for flying reindeer as Santa Clause makes his way through the night sky.
