Bank Holiday Breaks in the Lake District

While for many bank holiday breaks mean a long weekend away, for others it often just another day at work. However, that can still play to your advantage, with last minute offers and deals also available for a mid-week getaway.

Bank Holiday in the Lake District

As for weekend visitors to the Lakes in a Monday to Friday job role, a bank holiday spa break is the chance to unwind, relax and enjoy the countryside. Made all the more special but not having to use up holiday entitlement or take unpaid leave.

With the first of several bank holiday weekends just around the corner, there are plenty of things to do in the Lake District.

  • 10th April – Good Friday
  • 13th April – Easter Monday
  • 8th May – Early May Bank Holiday
  • 25th May – Spring Bank Holiday
  • 31st August – Summer Bank Holiday
  • 25th December – Christmas Day
  • 28th December – Boxing Day Substitute

Things to do in the Lake District

When it comes to Easter in the Lake District, there’s everything from religious church services to annual Easter Egg Hunts. If you’re celebrating the traditional meaning of Easter, then it’s a chance to visit the local churches. While for something a little more light-hearted, there’s the great Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt. Alternatively, both the World of Beatrix Potter and Muncaster Castle host fantastic events during the bank holiday weekend.

As for the following month, there are two separate opportunities to book a short break in the Lake District. With this year May Day being moved to Friday 8th May to coincide with the anniversary of VE Day.

While the recent run of storms and bad weather make it hard to imagine a sunny Summer Bank Holiday, there’s still time for things to change! Although it’s worth remembering that there are plenty of things to do in the Lake District, both outdoors and indoor activities. So why not follow our blog for ideas and updates on what’s on in the Lake District, ready to start planning your summer holiday.

We do, of course, hope the sunshine makes an appearance during your time away, no matter what time of year you planning to visit. Even if that’s a Christmas holiday, a time when Cumbria offers even more things to do in winter.

As well as the countryside looking beautiful under a layer of snow, it’s also a time to cosy up beside the fire. With a romantic spa break at Christmas, you can visit the many festive markets, such as “Windermere at Christmas”. Just one of many things to do in Windermere while celebrating the occasion.

However, if you prefer a cottage break to a spa hotel suite, then our boutique spa cottage is also taking bookings for a bank holiday getaway.
