The romantic poet William Wordsworth is one of the Lake District’s most famous past residents. His once family home, Dove Cottage, sits on the edge of Grasmere and opens its doors to visitors. Once a month passionate writers join like-minded individuals for an afternoon of poetry.
The next event takes place on 6th February 2020, whereby new members are invited to attend. The relaxed meeting welcomes those who may only be passing through, while on holiday.
Horseracing at Carlisle Racecourse
Just on the outskirts of the Lake District is the famous Carlisle Racecourse, which during February hosts 3 big horse racing days.
The first of which is Fabulous February on the 3rd, while the Winter Warmer takes place on 17th February 2020. Then the last Friday of the month, 24th February 2020, there’s a full day of jump racing at Carlisle.
Valentine’s Day in the Lake District

Keswick Film Festival
Each year 100’s of film enthusiast descend on the Lake District during February, ready for the annual Keswick Film Festival. Now in its 21st year, the event has grown considerably, attracting global recognition.
It also includes the prestigious Osprey Short Film Awards, which helps showcase some of the Lake Districts local talent.
